FACTORS OF JOB SATISFACTION AMONG YOUNG AND OLDER WORKERS
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the factors of employee well-being that a®ect work satisfaction and thus, increase productivity. We use data from the International Social Survey Program (ISSP) 2015Work Orientations module for the analysis. Using exploratory statistical methods, our aim is to identify di®erences between the work attitudes of younger and older workers. The relevance of this topic is shown by the fact that Hungary is below the OECD average regarding not only productivity but also job satisfaction. In addition, this also stands in regional comparison since only Poland is performing weaker among the Visegrad countries while the achievements of Czech Republic and Slovakia are better based on both indicators. Various empirical studies have shown that work satisfaction has a positive e®ect on productivity (Cserháti, Christian [2017], Oswald et al. [2015], Bryson et al. [2017], Böckerman, Ilmakunnas [2012], Edmans [2012]), which means that identifying determinants of workplace wellbeing and exploring the potential tools for improvement can contribute to prosperity, economic development and facilitate catching up to the competitors.
